The 4-8-0s were mountain or hill climbing engines, built to run over light tracks, often of mediocre quality, and with sharp curves,and mainly used for haulage.
Originating in America, they were also used throughout the world, though not in Britain. The author divides the subject into geographical divisions: North America, Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
The price-clipped dust wrapper is in vg condition, clean and bright, with light general handling marks.
Tightly bound.
The page edges are lightly soiled.
Inside,the content is in vg condition, with light tanning, scuffs to the back paste-down, minor creases to the end-papers, and a specks to the margins of the pages, but for the most part perfectly clean.
