This beautiful publication features a remarkable collection of old traditional Swedish textiles of a timeless nature belonging to the Nordiska Museet in Stockholm. The 245 examples selected, illustrated in both colour and black and white, are predominantly from the mid 18th century to the mid 19th century, and include such items as carpets, tapestries, carriage cushions, bed covers, chair cushions, canopies, towels and more. Historical information and descriptions are given for each sample, such as measurements, type of materials and methods of craftmanship.
The decorated calf leather boards are in very good condition , clean, fresh and bright, with light rubbing to the edges.
The lovely gold leaf fore-edges have a few light marks.
The binding is secure, square and tight.
The book previously belonged to the private collection of a needlework company and to the interior there is a partially removed 7.5 x 4.45 cm. bookplate to the front free end-paper, and a short ink inscription and three very small round ownership labels to the next page. Otherwise, the interior is clean and in very good condition.
