Description

This is a portfolio of an assortment of examples of folk costumes, textiles and murals, embellished with wool or cotton embroidery, from Slovakia, Bohemia, Selisia and Moravia. The 34 plates, mounted on grey card, reproduce embroideries such as waistcoats, aprons, scarfs, caps, collars, curtains and more from across the regions over the centuries.

The portfolio is undated but circa 1920s. The language is French.

Condition:
The handsome original maroon cloth boards are in good condition, with patches of fading, and fading to the pink cloth spine, a sticker mark to the bottom inside corner and general handling wear.
There is a very small round sticker from a private library and a short ink inscription to the top of the front pastedown.
The coloured plates are all clean, bright and in near fine condition. The grey card is in very good condition, with slight minor yellowing and bumping to the edges and elsewhere in part.
